Clisha D’Souza
Student, Scientific InternshipAbout Clisha
Hello! I’m Clisha D’Souza, and I’m a fourth year student at the University of Texas at Dallas studying Neuroscience and Psychology. This August, I’m participating in the Marine Dynamics Scientific Internship to learn about marine biology and conservation, as well as to decide whether marine biology is the right career for me. My experience in conservation began when I helped start a composting program on campus, and continued in the form of advocacy through participation in Model United Nations. Originally on the pre-medicine track, I have worked at community clinics for low-income patients and researched tinnitus. My love for travelling has taken me to the Philippines, Mexico, Cuba, and now, South Africa. I often combine travelling with my passion for community service, which led me to volunteer at a migrant shelter for Central Americans, build a youth center in Cuba, and carry out a nutritional program in the Philippines. At my university, I’m a Student Ambassador, to interact with alumni and to also give back to a university that has given me so much, and am Vice-President of Rotaract, an organization that engages in local community service.
