About Marena

Marena is 19 from Tennessee, USA and is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in marine biology at New College of Florida.

I fell in love with marine biology the first time I watched Shark Week on Discovery Channel. I knew instantly that I wanted to do exactly what the scientists on the program were doing, so I found a university on the coast and started classes about marine biology and ecology. I love sharks and marine mammals and hope to work on shark research and conservation in the future.

I heard about the internship from my academic adviser. I thought it would be a great way to learn new skills and increase my knowledge of marine life as well as have a lot of fun. The internship is a great way for me to experience marine research and prepare me for a career in marine biology.
